The Kalaniketan institution was founded in the year 1947 in Jabalpur with the vision to develop competent Technical Skill and Education in state of M.P. Government Polytechnic was established in the year 1955. Afterwards, in 1993, The Kalaniketan Institution was merged in the Government Polytechnic institution and it was rechristened as Kalaniketan Polytechnic. The institute was declared autonomous in 1998 by Government of Madhya Pradesh. Later, in year 2002, it was recognized as College. The Kalaniketan Polytechnic College is one of the leading institutions of M.P. It is affiliated to Rajeev Gandhi Prodhyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya and it is approved by AICTE. It is running several Diploma and Certificate courses according to the contemporary needs of Industries. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Printing, Computer science and Engineering, Information technology & Pharmacy. Since its inception, the college has been excelling in academic performance .Students from the college are working in prestigious posts in government, public and private organization in India & abroad .Slowly and steadily it has prospered to the present status. Its strength lies in strong infrastructure, skilled and dedicated faculty and staff and well equipped laboratories. It is spread in an area of appox.12 acres in the heart of city. It includes 4 institutional blocks, 2 hostels, residential buildings etc.

The Institute is located in the heart of the city, near Paryatan Bhawan on Kalaniketan Marg, Jabalpur. It is one km from railway station. It is well connected to different parts of city through public transport.
